Email forwarding (also called email redirection) is used to redirect email
from one address to another. For example, you might have email@example.com
automatically redirected to your sales person's personal email address,
and firstname.lastname@example.org redirected to your support person's personal
You may also have redirects set-up to send email to more than one address.
For example, you may have email addressed to email@example.com redirected
to each member of your support staff. You may have as many redirects as
you like, and with your SiteMadeEasy Web Control Panel,
setting them up is as simple as filling in the blanks.
Once you've logged into your Web Control Panel, select the Email Forwarding button.
To set-up an email redirect:
1. Address: Enter the name or title
portion of the address only. For example, you would enter sales and not
2. Forward To: Enter the FULL valid
email address that you want the email forwarded to. For example, firstname.lastname@example.org
(Type carefully. If you make an error the email will be forwarded to an
incorrect email address).
3. Also Forward To: If applicable,
enter the FULL valid email address of others you want this email to go
to. For example, email@example.com.
4. Add/Edit Redirects: Click this
button to save your changes.
To edit or delete an existing redirect, simply change or remove the information
in the entry fields and click on Add/Edit Redirects.
The "default" case:
Note: "yourdomain.com" is your domain name - e.g., if your domain is
fred.com then this default case would be firstname.lastname@example.org.
This "default" line will place all email which is sent to email@example.com
(ALL email addresses) into the main "yourdomain" POP account (e.g., fred),
UNLESS there is an alias or account named "anything" set up (in that case, it would go there).
If you want all of the default email to go to another valid email address, just replace the firstname.lastname@example.org with the other valid email address.
Or, if you set up:
This will also forward all email.
If you forward "default" to "nobody"
you will not receive email sent to misspelled or otherwise unexpected email addresses.
